Italian Floor Lamp ill-form Fabio Lenci Mid Century Modern vintage arco

  

From History Never Repeats LLC, South Charleston, WV. Ill-Form floor lamp , Italy, circa 1965. Measures: 48 W x 11.5 D x 63 H inches aluminum, enameled aluminum, enameled steel, brass. The name ill-form probably stands for an abbreviation of "Illuminazione Form". Little is known of the company but it is known they manufactured designs for Fabio Lenci and it is likely this lamp was also designed by him given that it can be easily seen accompanying his Lucite desks and chairs with ease.

This lamp is remarkable and distinct in design with a floor pedal common to Italian lamps, however the arco style arch is solid all the way around giving it strength. The cutout style sphere is also very unique to the design and can pivot 360 degrees one way, and 90 degrees the other. The socket has been rewired to an American socket that can be preset to 3 power levels and then turned off and on by the floor pedal switch. The base is a solid cast steel base. The orb shade of steel is the highlight of this piece only matched by the Minimalist approach to the other elements.

Offers excellent down illumination while the slits allude to the design with ambient light cast. Remnants of label to underside of shade mostly gone.
