Rare 1950s Sputnik Starburst Chandelier
Named after the satellite that inspired them, this Sputnik Chandelier has a "modern" style distinguished by its unique 9-bulb starburst pattern. The first Sputnik Chandelier lamps were designed by Gino Sarfatti in 1954, three years before the Russian satellite Sputnik was launched. Only the originals feature nine lights - in nine distinctive starbursts. The height of "cool" design in the late 50's and early 60's, original Sputnik chandeliers such as this are extremely difficult to find.
The hand welding and vintage patina of this original give it an authentic, hand-created look that modern day reproductions can't duplicate. Approx: 32" in width - height is approximately 20", adjustable chain height - all original parts including ceiling plate and mounting hardware.
